Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang pengaruh penerapan Team Quiz terhadap prestasi siswa pada pengajaran kosa kata siswa kelas 1 selama semester I tahun pelajaran 2010/2011.
Berdasarkan landasan teori dan kerangka berfikir, dirumuskan hipotesis penelitian sebagai berikut: ada perbedaan signifikan kosa kata bahasa Inggris antara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan Team Quiz dan siswa yang diajar tanpa menggunakan Team Quiz.
Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 1 SMP Muhammadiyah Kluwut Brebes dengan jumlah populasi 132 siswa. Sampel dari penelitin ini adalah 60 siswa. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok control. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 30 siswa. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik acak. Penulis menggunakan tes sebagai instrument penelitian. Tipe dari tes tersebut adalah tes pilihan ganda dengan empat pilihan A, B, C, dan D untuk mengetahui reliabilitas dan validitas.
Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil tes kosakata yang dikerjakan oleh sampel penelitian semester satu. Analisa penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t. Dari hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa t hitung adalah 3,192 sedang t-tabel adalah 1,645 Pada level signifikan ( ? ) 5% dan derajat bebas 58, ini menunjukkan bahwa t-test lebih besar dari t-tabel (3,192 ?1,645). Jadi, dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Team quiz memberikan efek positif pada kosa kata bahasa inggris siswa SMP Muhammadiyah Kluwut Brebes kelas I tahun ajaran 2010/2011.

The objective of this research is to know whether there is a positive Effect of applying Team Quiz in Teaching Vocabulary to The First Year Students of SMP Muhammadiyah Kluwut Brebes In academic Year 2010/2011.
Based on the review of related study and logical frame work, the hypothesis of this research is purpose as follow: "there is a significant difference of English vocabulary between students who are taught by using team quiz and students who are taught without using team quiz".
The population is whole first year students of SMP Muhammadiyah Kluwut Brebes in Academic Year 2010 / 2011. The number of the population is 132 students. The samples of this research are 60 students. The sample is divided into two groups: the experimental group and control group. Each group consists of 30 students. The samples are taken by using random sampling technique. The writer uses test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test is the multiple choice test with four options, A, B, C, and D. To know the reliability and validity of the instrument.
The data analysis of this research are gained from the result of vocabulary test done by sample of the research. Data analysis of this research is tasted by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis t-ratio is 3,192 whereas t-table with the degree of freedom is 58 on the level significance of 5 %, t-table is 1,645. It shows that t-ratio is bigger than t table (3,192>1,645). Thus, the conclusion of this research is Team Quiz give positive effect toward the English vocabulary of the first year students of SMP Muhammadiyah Kluwut Brebes in academic year 2010/2011.
