Rumusan masalah penelitian 'apakah ada hubungan antara motivasi orang tua dengan prestasi belajar mata pelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Siswa Kelas IX Semester 1 SMP Negeri 2 Taman Tahun Pelajaran 2010-2011. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara motivasi orang tua dengan prestasi belajar mata pelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Siswa Kelas IX Semester 1 SMP Negeri 2 Taman Tahun Pelajaran 2010-2011.
Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan korelasi, jumlah populasi 320 responden sedangkan jumlah sampel 77. Instrumen diuji dengan validitas dan reliabilitas alpha cronbach. Analisis data menggunakan korelasi, uji t dan determinasi.
Motivasi orang tua siswa Kelas IX Semester 1 SMP Negeri 2 Taman ternyata berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa. Secara kuantitatif diperoleh dari hasil korelasi r = 0,620. Nilai ini positif dan lebih besar dari rtabel = 0,227. Karena rhitung > rtabel , maka Hipotesis kerja (Ha) yang mengemukakan 'Ada hubungan yang signifikan motivasi orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar mata pelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Siswa Kelas IX Semester 1 SMP Negeri 2 Taman Tahun Pelajaran 2010-2011, terbukti secara empiris kebenarannya.
Besar pengaruh motivasi orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar siswa berdasarkan nilai koefisien determinasi = 38,84%, artinya variabel motivasi orang tua memberikan konstribusi terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar sebesar 38,84% dan sisanya 61,16% ditentukan oleh variabel lain.
Motivasi orang tua merupakan salah satu faktor untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa sehingga para guru perlu menginformasikan perkembangan hasil belajar siswa yang berupa nilai ulangan harian, di samping nilai rapot yang diberikan setiap semester.

The objective of this research is to find out whether there is a correlation between Parents Motivation and the achievement in Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Subject of the Nine Year, First Semester Students of SMP 2 Taman the Academic Year 2010-2011
The research approach uses Correlation, with population number is 320 respondents, and the sample is 77. The instrument is tested using Cronbach Alpha Realibility anda Validity. the data analyses uses Correlatoin, T-test and Determinanation.
Parents motivation of the ninth year, firs semestre students of SMP Negeri 2 Taman significantly influences the improvement of students achievement.Quantitatively yield from the correlation r = 0,620. This value is positive an higher than r table = 0,227.
