English as an International language, is very important to be mastered. The essential thing in learning English is about the mastery of vocabulary, and then a teacher should be able to choose appropriate learning medias so that students are not bored in the teaching learning process.
The problem in this research is how far the students make improvement of their vocabulary mastery of those who are taught by using flashcard. The purpose of this study is to provide a concrete illustration of the use of Flashcard media, to learn the changes of students' behavior that occurred during the vocabulary learning by using flashcard.
This research is a class action research, meaning that the research is conducted in the classroom. The subject of the research is the fourth grade students at SDN Bongkok 02 Kramat, Tegal. Data concerning the increase of students' vocabulary mastery and attitude of students are obtained based on the tests carried out, observations, questionnaire and student journals in pre cycle, the first cycle, second cycle and the third cycle with The Classical Passing Criteria is 6,00
The result shows that the use of Flashcard media can improve the students' vocabulary mastery. The increase can be seen from the change of attitude in the learning process and the value is reached. Improvement also occurred on the acquisition of evaluation results, the classical average in pre cycle amounted to 57,59 after the fist cycle of action of 64,09, after the second cycle of action of 72,57 and after the third cycle of 79,88. The research results also showed change in student attitudes during the learning progress.
Based on the above conclusions the writer gives advice to the other English teacher that flashcard media can be used for improving the students' vocabulary mastery.
