THE INFLUENCE OF TEACHING ENGLISH BY USING LEARNING COMMUNITY APPROACH TOWARD THE STUDENTS ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT ( The Case Student to the Second Grade Students of SMK N 1 Slawi )

The objective of this research is to get information whether there is positive effect of Learning Community Teaching approach on the second year students English achievement in SMK N 1 SLAWI in Academic year 2010/2011.
Based on the theoretical background, the research hypothesis is proposed as follows: “The Teaching English by using Learning Community Teaching approach has positive effect on English achievement of the second year students of SMK”.
The population of this research is the second year students of SMK N 1 Slawi in Academic year 2010/2011.With the total number of 60 students they are divided into two groups. Each group consists of 30 students, the first group is the experiment group consisting of students who are taught by using Learning Community Approach and the second group is the Controlled group consisting of students who are taught by using classical Method.
The research samples are taken by using random sampling techniques. The Instrument of this research is achievement test. The test contains 35 items. The type of test is multiple choice test with five alternative answers. After performing the tests on the entire sample and control experiments both with a time of 45 minutes, the writer provides scores and values in the sample study. Then the writer finds the mean, median in each group, then the data is processed by comparing the design of experiments with two groups control.
The data is analyzed by using t-test formula, the result of data analysis shows t-ratio 2,894 and t-table at degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level of significance 5% is 2,000.The comparison shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (2,894>2,000).
The conclusion of this study is that the teaching English by using Learning Community has a positive effect on student achievement in English learning classes XI SMK N 1 Slawi.
