THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STORY STRUCTURAL STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION ACHIEVEMENT OF NARRATIVE TEXT (An Experimental Study of the First Grade Students of MA NU 03 Brebes Academic Year 2010/2011)

The objective of this research is to find out whether the positive effect Implementation of Story Structural Strategy in reading comprehension achievement of narrative text to the first grade students of MA NU 03 Brebes in academic year 2010 /2011.
Based on the review of related literature and logical framework, the hypothesis of the research is proposed as fallows:” students who were taught using story structural strategy getting the better reading comprehension of narrative text than students who were taught without story structural strategy.
The population of this research is the first grade students of MA NU 03 Brebes in the academic year2010//2011. The total number is 120 students. The writer use random sampling technique to choose the sample of this research. The number of sample is 60 students. The sample consist of two groups, they are the experiment group and the control group, each group consist of 30 students. The first group is the students who were taught uSing story structural strategy and the second group is students who were taught without using story structural strategy.
The data of this research was taken from a test. The test takes 45 minute to do. The type of the test is multiple choices with four options A, B, C, and D. To know validity and reliability of the instrument the writer students having the same competence with the sample of this research.
The data of this research are gained from the result of test done by the sample before starting of research and at the end of the research. Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test to know the difference of the mean of the two groups. From The result data analysis shows that T-test is 3,382 on the level significance 5% and degree of freedom (df) 58 is obtained t-table 2.000. The comparison shows that t-test is higher than T-table (3,382>2.000). so there is significant effect between students who were taught story structural strategy and students who were taught without story structural strategy in reading comprehension of narrative text.
From the final research it can be concluded that the implementation of story structural strategy have positive effect in improving students comprehension achievement of narrative text in the first grade students of MA NU 03 Brebes in academic years 2010/ 2011.
