Based on the theory of thinking, the research hypothesis is proposed as follows: The use of Snowball Drilling method gives positive effect in teaching English vocabulary to the students at V grade in Elementary School.
Population of this research is the fifth grade students of SD N Pedagung 02 and 03, the population of students are 67 students. The writer takes 60 students. The sample consists of 2 groups; each group consists of 30 students. The first group is the students who are taught by using Snowball Drilling Method and the second group is the students who are not taught by using Snowball Drilling Method.
The writer uses vocabulary test as the reasearch instrument. The test needs 1 x 45 minutes to do. The type of the test is multiple choice items with 4 options A, B, C; D. To know the reliability and validity of the instrument, the writer had tried it to 30 students who have the same competence with the research sample.
The research data is gained from the English test that has been given to research respondents during first semester. Data analysis is computed by using t-test formula. Based on the computation data analysis, t-ratio is 4,829. On the level of significant 5%, it is found that t-table is 2,000. It means that t-ratio is higher than t-table (4,829 > 2,000). It shows that there is a significant different vocabulary achivement between the students who are taught by using Snowball Drilling Method. And these who are not.
