THE EFFECT OF THE USE OF ENVIROMENTAL LEARNING TECHNIQUE TOWARDS THE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT ( An experimental study to the fifth grade students of SDN Tegalgandu 03, Brebes Regency in the Academic Year of 2011/2012 )

The objective of this research is to know the effect of the use of environmental learning technique towards the students’ vocabulary achievement of the fifth grade of SD Negeri Tegalgandu 03, Brebes Regency in the Academic Year of 2011/2012. Therefore, the hypothesis of the research is: “there is positive effect of using environmental learning technique towards the students’ vocabulary achievement of the fifth grade of SD Negeri Tegalgandu 03, Brebes Regency in the Academic Year of 2011/2012.
The sample of this research is 40 students selected by using simple random sampling technique. They are divided into two groups; experimental and control one. Each of them consists of 20 students and the writer used the multiple choice test as the instrument. For knowing the validity and reliability of the instrument, she tried it out to other 20 students who had the same competence with the sample above. Moreover, she did the test before starting and after conducting the research.
Then, the data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test to know the different means of the two groups. The result of data analysis shows that t-ratio is 4,035 on the level of significant 5% and degree of freedom (df) 38 the t-table 2,021. The comparison shows that t-test is higher than t-table (4,035>2,021). So, the hypothesis above is proven. There is significant differences between the students who were taught by using environmental learning technique then those who were not.
From the final result of the research it can be concluded that there is a significant difference of the students’ vocabulary achievement between the students who are taught by implementing environmental learning technique and those who are taught by implementing situational language teaching in the fifth grade students at SD Negeri Tegalgandu 03 in the academic year of 2011 / 2012.
