The objective of this research is to know about The Effect of the use of the Implementation of Word String Game on the Fifth Grade Students’ Vocabulary Achievement in Academic Year 2011/2012.
Based on the review of related literature and logical frame work, the research hypothesis is proposed as follows, the Implementation of Word String Game gives positive effect onVocabulary Achievement . In other words the students who are taught by using Implementation of Word String Game will get the achievement of Vocabulary better than the students who are not taught by Implementation of Word String Game.
The population of the research is the fifth grade students of SD N Pedeslohor 02 Jatibarang -Brebes Regency, with the total number 60 students, the writer takes 60 students from population as the sample by using random sampling technique. The writer uses two group design, Each group consists of 30 students. The Experimental group is taught by use Implementation of Word String Game and the control group is we’re not taught by use Implementation of Word String Game. Then both of them are given the same Vocabulary test.
The writer uses multiple choice test as the instrument of the research From the test the students must be able to choose good answer with option A, B, C, or D based on the reading form. The students do the test in 45 minutes.
The data of the research is gained from the reading test that is given to the sample of this research. To analyze the data, the writer uses t-test to know the difference between the two groups. Based on the result of the data analysis t-ratio is 2,666 with the degree of freedom (df) 58 and level of significance (α) 5 %, and the t-table is 2,000. It means that the t-ratio is bigger than the t-table (2,666 > 2,000). It can be concluded that the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is there is a positive effect of the Implementation of Word String Game on the Fifth Grade Students’ Vocabulary Achievement of SD N Pedeslohor 02 Jatibarang -Brebes Regency in Academic Year 2011/2012.
