The objective of the research is to know the effect of using Genius learning strategy toward the sixth grade students’ vocabulary achievement at SD Harjawinangun 02 Balapulang, Tegal Regency in the academic year of 2011 / 2012. Based on background of the problem and logical framework, the writer makes the hypothesis that there is positive effect of using Genius learning strategy toward the sixth grade students’ vocabulary achievement.
The population of the research was the students of the sixth grade of SD N Harjawinangun 02. The number of population was 43 students. The writer used random sampling technique to choose the sample of study. The number of sample was 40 students. The sample consists of two groups, the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was the students who were taught by using Genius learning strategy, and the control group was the students who were taught without using Genius learning strategy.
The writer used a test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test was multiple choices with four options A, B, C, D. The test consists of 30 items that took 45 minutes to do. To know the validity and the reliability of the instrument, the writer tried out the instrument by giving a test to 20 students having the same competence with the sample of the study.
The data was gained from the result of vocabulary test done by sample of the research during the first semester. Data analysis of this research was tested by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis, t-test is 3.441 whereas t-table with the degree of freedom is 38 on the level significant of 5% is 2.021. It shows that t-test is bigger than t-table (3.441>2.021). It means that there is a significant difference vocabulary achievement between the students who were taught by using Genius learning strategy and those who were taught without using Genius learning strategy.
Thus, the writer can conclude that Genius learning strategy gives positive effect toward the students’ vocabulary achievement of the sixth year students of SD N Harjawinangun 02 in the academic year of 2011 / 2012.
