THE EFFECT OF ENGLISH EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAM TOWARD THE STUDENTS’ ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study at the Fifth Grade Students of SDN Krasak 03 Brebes Regency Academic Year 2010/2011)

This study aims to determine whether giving the English extracurricular programs gives positive effect on students English achievement or not.
Based on the Basic of theory and a logical framework, the hypothesis can be formulated as follows : There is positive effect of English Extracurricular Program on the Student English Achievement of the Fifth Grade in SDN Krasak 03 Brebes Academic Year 2010-2011.
The writer held this research in SDN Krasak 03 Brebes, where the population in this research is all of the students in the fifth grade of SDN Krasak 03 Brebes, There are 60 students in number who are divided into two classes they are class A and class B and they are devided into two groups. class A is as the experimental group which consists of students who are given the English extracurricular program and class B is control group. it is consist of students who do not given the English extracurricular programs.
To determine the results of this research the writer make a test instrument.The time of test is 45 minutes. Type of the test used is multiple choice with four options A, B, C and D to determine the validity and reliability of research instruments, the writter gives a test instrument to the fifth grade students of SDN Sumur Panggang 01 outside sample of research that has the same capability with the study sample.
The data of this research are gained from multiple-choice test results conducted to the sample of the research. The data of this research is analyzed by using t –test. Based on result of data analysis, t-test is t-4.157. While t-table on degree of freedom is 58 on level significance 5%, the value of t-table is 2.000. It shows that the work hypothesis is accepted.
It can be concluded : Giving of direct extracuticular program, provide a significantly positive effect to Students’ English Achievement of the Fifth Grade in SDN Krasak 03 Brebes Academic Year 2010-2011.
