The Effect of Applying Cooperative Learning In Practice-Rehearsal Pair Type toward the Students Vocabulary Mastery (An Experimental Study on the Tenth Grade Students of SMA PGRI 1 Pemalang in Academic Year 2011/2012).

The objective of this research is to know whether there is a positive effect of applying cooperative learning in practice-rehearsal pair type Toward the Students Vocabulary Mastery on the Tenth Grade Students of SMA PGRI 1 Pemalang in Academic Year 2011/2012.
Based on the review of related theories and the logical framework, the hypothesis of this research is: “There is a positive influence of applying cooperative learning in practice-rehearsal pair type toward the vocabulary mastery on the tenth grade students of SMA PGRI 1 Pemalang in Academic Year 2011/2012”.
The population of this research is the Tenth Grade Students of SMA PGRI 1 Pemalang in Academic Year 2011/2012. The number of the students is 233 students which consist of six classes. To get data that is needed in this research, the writer takes 60 students as the sample of this research from the population. The sample in this research is taken by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. The writer divides the sample into two groups and each group consists of 30 students. The first group is Experimental group consisting students who are taught by Practice-Rehearsal Pair technique and the second group is control group consisting who are taught by Audio Lingual Method (ALM).
To get data, the writer uses a test as the instrument. The type of a test is reading test in the form of Multiple-Choice with five alternatives A, B, C, D and E. To know the validity and reliability of the instrument, the writer gives try out test to 30 students who are another sample but they have the some competence and characteristic as the sample of this research. After the writer gave try out instrument, the writer finds out 30 tests is valid. So that, The writer takes 30 test items of Reading test to the sample of this research.
The data of this research is gotten by using t-test formula. Based on the result of the data analyze, the writer gets t-test 4,160 on the degree of freedom (df) 58 and the level of significant 5%, the writer get t table 1,960. It shows that t test is higher that t table (4,160>1,960). It means that the hypothesis of this research (H1) is accepted and H0 is refused. The writer concludes that “There is a positive effect of applying cooperative learning inpractice-rehearsal pair type Toward the Students Vocabulary Mastery on the Tenth Grade Students of SMA PGRI 1 Pemalang in Academic Year 2011/2012”.
