The Effect of Using Collin Writing Program Strategy Towards Students’ Writing Skill of Descriptive text (An Experimental Research of the second year students at SMP Negeri 17 Tegal Regency in Academic Year 2011/2012).

The objectives of this research are to describe the implementation of Collin writing program in teaching writing for the second year students of SMP Negeri 17 Tegal Regency in academic year of 2011/2012, and to find out whether the use of Collin writing program give a positive effect after they taught by using Collin writing program.
Based on the review of related literature and framework of thinking, the hypothesis of this research is that there is a positive effect of the students’ writing skill in descriptive text after they are taught by using Collin writing program of the second year students of SMP Negeri 17 Tegal in academic year of 2011/2012.
This research is experimental design. In this research, the writer finds out the effect of Collin writing program in students’ writing skill in descriptive text. The writer uses two group design in this research. The population of this research is all of the second year students SMP Negeri 17 Tegal that consist of 259 students. To collect the data, the writer uses simple random sampling technique to take the sample of the research. The total of the sample is 60 students from the population. The sample of this research is divided into two groups. The first group is the control group and the second is the experimental group. Each group consist of 30 students.
The data of this research is gained from the writing test that is given to the sample of this research. To analyze the data, the writer uses t-test to know the difference between the two groups. Based on the data analysis, t-ratio is 4,258 with the degree of freedom (df) is 58 on the level of significance 5% and the t-table is 2,000. It means that the t-ratio is higher than t-table (4,258 > 2,000). It means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the hypothesis of the research (H1) is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is that the use on Collin writing program gives a positive effect on the students’ writing skill in descriptive text of the students who are taught by using Collin writing program in second year students of SMP Negeri 17 Teagl, Regency in academic year of 2011/2012.
