The Application of Cooperative LearningMethod toward Students Reading Achievement (An Experimental Study at the First Grade Students of SMK NU 1 Slawi, Academic Year 2011 – 2012).

The purpose of this research is to gain information about The Application of Cooperative Learning Method toward Students Reading Achievement to the First Grade Students at SMK NU 1 Slawi, Tegal in Academic Year 2011/2012.
Based on the theoretical background, the hypothesis of this research is proposed as follows: The Application of Cooperative Learning Method gives a positive effect toward Students Reading Achievement at the First Grade Students of the First Grade Students of SMK NU 1 Slawi, Tegal.
The population of this research is the First Grade Students at SMK NU 1 Slawi, Tegal. The number of population is 340 students. The writer used cluster random sampling technique to choose the sample that consists of two groups. The first group is the experimental group and the second one is control group. The sample is 60 students. Each group consists of 30 students.
The data of this research is gained from the result of general English test. Then, the writer compared it with the score of English general test in the first semester test. Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test to test the difference mean of the two groups. The result of t-ratio is 4,118>1,645 at significance level of 5% and degree of freedom is 58. The result of t-ratio is higher than t-table.
From the result of the data analysis, could be conclude that the Application of Cooperative Learning Method has positive effect in Students Reading Achievement to the First Grade Students of SMK NU 1 Slawi, Tegal. The suggestion is teacher should know the methods or approaches which match for the situation and condition of the students like Cooperative Leaning.
