The Effect of Kindergarten Educational Background toward the Students’ English Learning Achievement (A Case Study of the Fifth Year Students of SD Negeri Suradadi 04, Tegal Regency in Academic Year 2011/2012).

The purpose of this research is to know whether Kindergarten Educational Background give positive effect toward the fifth year Students’ English Learning Achievement.
Based on the theoretical background and logical framework, the hypothesis of this research is “ There is a positive effect of kindergarten educational background toward English learning achievement of the fifth year students of SD Negeri Suradadi 04, Tegal Regency”. In other word, the students who have kindergarten educational background will have the achievement result of English learning better than the students who don’t have kindergarten educational background.
The research population is the fifth year students of SD Negeri Suradadi 04, Tegal Regency with the total number 65 students. To collect the data, the writer took 60 students from the population as the sample using claster random sampling technique.
The instrument of this research uses multiple choice test. The test consist of 30 multiple choice questions which have four options. The students did the test in 45 minutes. To know the validity and reliability of the instrument the writer gives the test to 30 students as the try-out group who have the same competence with the sample of this research.
Based on the result of the data analysis, t-ratio is 6,704 with the degree of freedom (df) 58 and the level of significance 5%, and the t-table is 2,000. It means that the t-ratio is higher than the t-table (6,704>2,000). It can be concluded that the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is there is a positive effect of kindergarten educational background toward the students’ english learning achievement of the fifth year students of SD Negeri Suradadi 04, Tegal Regency in academic year 2011/2012.
