Analysis of Figures of Speech in the William Blake’s Poems (A Descriptive Study of the William Blake’s Poems).

The objective of this research is to find out the figures of speech embedded in the William Blake’s poems.
This research is descriptive design, it means that this research has one variable. The writer applies descriptive design to describe the facts and explain it to analyze about figures of speech in the William Blake’s Poems. Source data of this research is any books relevant with this research. The Subject of the study in the William Blake’s Poems which the titles are: Sick Rose, The Fly, The Echoing Green, A Poison Tree, Ah Sunflower, The Lamb, Love’s Secret, My Pretty Rose Tree, The Little Black Boy, The Tyger.
Figures of speech in the William Blake’s poems such as: metaphor, simile, personification, symbol, hyperbole, synecdoche, metonymy, irony, paradox, allusion. Total figures of speech used from 10 poems they are (1) The Sick Rose 70%. (2) The Fly 60%. (3) The Echoing Green 30%. (4) A Poison Three 30%. (5) Ah Sunflower 50%. (6) The Lamb 40%. (7) Love’s Secrets 30%. (8) My Pretty Rose Tree 40%. (9) The Little Black Boy 40%. (10) The Tyger 40%. From the poems personification is most commonly used in the poem, hyperbole not found in the poem.
From the result of this thesis, the writer hopes that this analysis gives benefits to next researchers as the references or the data supporting. The teachers or lecturers may give deeper understanding about figures of speech in the poem. For other researchers who are interested in the same topic can develop this thesis.
