THE EFFECT OF THINK TALK WRITE METHOD TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING ABILITY IN NARRATIVE TEXT ( An Experimental Study to the First Year Students of SMA NU 01 Wahid Hasyim Talang, Tegal Regency In Academic Year 2010 / 2011 )

The objectives of this research is to find out whether or not the think talk write method in teaching English reading by using narrative text give positive effect on reading ability of the first year students of SMA NU 01 Wahid Hasyim Talang in academic year 2010 / 2011.
This is an experimental research which has two variables, it is independent variable and dependent variable. In this study, independent variable is the use of think talk write method and dependent variable is students’ reading ability in narrative text. And in this study use two group design as research design.
The population of this research is all of the first year students of SMA NU 01 Wahid Hasyim Talang academic year 2010 / 2011. The number of population is 60 students. The first year students of SMA NU 01 Wahid Hasyim Talang is divided into three classes. The researcher uses random sampling technique to take samples and the samples are grouped into two groups. Each group consists of 20 students. The first group is taught with think talk write method by using narrative text and the other group is taught with lecture method by using narrative text.
To collect data, the researcher uses written test. The written test consists of 30 questions. Each question has 4 options.
To analyze data, the researcher uses t test formula. From the counting of mean of experiment and control group, the researcher gets 72,45 for experiment group and 66,5 for control group. From analysis data with t-test, the researcher has found t count is bigger than t table (2,175 > 1,684). It means that there is some significance different means of experiment and control group, so the hypothesis of research is received.
