A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON ERRORS OF USING PRONOUN MADE BY SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS IN WRITING ACTIVITIES A research held in SMP 17 Tegal in Academic Year of 2010/2011

The purpose of this research is a study of placement Errors of Using pronouns in Writing Activities (A research held in SMP 17 Tegal in Academic Year of 2010/2011) ".
Based of the theoretical background the hypothesis of this research is “A descriptive errors study on using pronouns in writing text of seventh grade student of SMP 17 Tegal”.
This study aims to determine the types of errors that often do by high school students of class VII in the placement of Pronouns In: personal pronoun, demonstrative pronoun, relative pronoun, and reflexive pronoun.
This research was carried out in junior high school 17 Tegal. Number of students in this study was 30 students as the sample, the sampling techniques that used is cluster random sampling. From the data analysis can be concluded that the students of class VII SMP Tegal in general are make a lot of mistakes in placement relative pronoun. From several placement errors were grouped into four categories of mistakes and errors in each category there are several items error. Using personal pronoun get 16% error of 24 students, demonstrative pronoun get 25 % error of 29 students, using relative pronoun get 30 % error of 30 students and using reflexive pronouns get 29 % error of 26 students.
According to the data analysis above, most errors committed students of class VII SMP 17 Tegal in second semester 2010/2011 Academic Year is the placement of relative pronoun.
The writer would like to give advice to teachers of English in order for the success of teaching English language need to provide grammatical rules in accordance with the rules of English and multiply provide practice questions to students. For students should always read and write English in order to improve mastery of English grammatical.
