THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING STICK FIGURE IN VOCABULARY TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS FOR THE FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL An Experimental Study in SD NU 01 Penawaja and SDN Bengle 02 Regency of Tegal in Academic Year 2010/2011

The objective of this research is to know about the effect of using Stick
Figure in vocabulary teaching learning process for the fourth grade students of SD
NU 01 Penawaja Kajen and SDN Bengle 02, Regency of Tegal.
Based on related theories and logical framework, the hypothesis of the
research is proposed as follows : There is positive effect between vocabulary
teaching learning process from the students who are taught by using Stick Figure
and who are taught by using Chart Media in the fourth grade students of SD NU
01 Penawaja Kajen and SDN Bengle 02, Regency of Tegal, in academic year
2010/2011.
The population of this research is the fourth grade students of SD NU 01
Penawaja Kajen and SDN Bengle 02 and the total number is 102 students. The
writer takes the sample by using random sampling technique. The sample is
divided into 2 groups : an experimental group and a control group, and each group
consists of 30 students. The experimental group contains the students who are
taught by using Stick Figure and the control group contains the students who are
taught by using Chart Media.
The writer uses test as the instrument. The writer gives 20 items of multiplechoice
test. In order to know the validity and reliability of the test, the writer gives
try out test to the 30 students who have the same competence with the samples of
the research.
The data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test, for testing the
differences between two groups. On the level of significance 5% and degree of
freedom (df) 58, we can get the t-table 2,000 and t-test 3,3429. It shows that t-test
is higher than t-table (3,3429 > 2,000). It means there is a significant difference of
using Stick Figure in vocabulary teaching learning process between students who
are taught by using Stick Figure and the students who are taught by using Chart
Media.
So it could be concluded that the using of Stick Figure in vocabulary
teaching learning process gives the positive effect to the students vocabulary
teaching learning process than those who are taught by using Chart Media.
