The Effect of Using Talking Stick on Students’ Vocabulary Achievement. (An Experimental Research to the Fifth Grade Students of SD N Dukuhjati Kidul 01 of Tegal Regency in the Academic Year 2012/2013)

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the Talking Stick gives positive effect to the students’ vocabulary achievement.
Based on the theoretical background and logical frame work, the hypothesis of this research is as follow: The use of Talking Stick gives positive effect on students’ vocabulary achievement in learning English vocabulary by the fifth year students of SD N Dukuhjati Kidul 01 – Tegal Regency in the Academic Year 2012/2013.
This is an experimental research. The population of this research is the fifth year students of SD N Dukuhjati Kidul 01 and 02– Tegal Regency which is totally 85 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling technique to take the sample of research. The sample of this research is 40 students who are divided into two of groups. Each of group consists of 20 students. The first group is Experimental group, it consists of the students who are taught by using Talking Stick and the second group is the control group, it consists of the students who are not taught by using Talking Stick. The data of this research is gained by using multiple choice tests, which consists of 30 items, the analysis of this research is calculated by using t-test.
The result of this research shows that t-test is 3.312 and degree of freedom is 38 whereas t-table at significant level 5% is 2,021. It is absolutely said that t-test is higher than t-table (3.312>2,021). Therefore, the research hypothesis is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is that use of Using Talking Stick gives positive effect on students’ vocabulary achievement in learning English vocabulary by the fifth year students of SD N Dukuhjati Kidul 01 – Tegal Regency in the Academic Year 2012/2013.
