The Effect of the Education Unit Level Curriculum Towards the Students’ Reading Comprehension ( An Experimental Study on the 7th Students at SMP Bkhati Praja Suradadi – Tegal in Academic year of 2011/2012)

The Objective of this research is to know whether there is positive effect she use of Education Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) towards reading achievement of the seventh year students SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi in the Academic Year of 2011/2012.
The population of this research is the 7th year students of SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi in the Academic Year of 2011/2012. The total of them 80 students. The research sample is taken by using random sampling technique. 60 students as the sample are divided into two groups, 30 students as the experimental group (The students who are taught by using KTSP Approach (Education Unit Level Curriculum) and 30 students as the control group ( The students who are taught by using 2004 Curriculum ).
The data of this research is obtained by using reading test that consists of 50 items. The data is analyzed by using t-test which tests the differences of means of the two group. The mean of group I ( experimental group) shows 7,516 and the mean of group II ( control group ) shows 7,050. On the degree of significance of one percent (5%) and df (58), the result of t – test shows 3,045 whereas t – table shows 2,000, it means that t – test is higher that t – table (3,045 > 2,000).
The result shows that there is significant difference of the students Reading Achivement between those who are taught by using KTSP Approach (Education Unit Level Curriculum) and those who are taught by using 2004 Curriculum. It can be concluded the KTSP Approach (Education Unit Level Curriculum) gives positif influence towards the reading achivement of the seventh year students of SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi in the Academic Year of 2011/2012.
In conclusion, the writer suggests KTSP Approach (Education Unit Level Curriculum) should frequently used to increase the students Reading Achievement.
