THE EFFECT OF USING TAI TECHNIQUE (TEAM ASSISTED INDIVIDUALIZATION) TOWARD STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY (An Experimental Research of the Second Grade Students of MTs Bustanul Huda Dawuhan Talang Tegal Regency in Academic Year of 2012/2013)

The objective of this research is to find out whether using of TAI (Team Assisted Individualization) gives positive effect toward students’ vocabulary mastery of the second grade students of MTs Bustanul Huda Dawuhan Talang Tegal Regency in Academic Year of 2012/2013.
The research is done by classifying sample into two groups, they are control group and experiment group. Each group consists of 30 students. The sample is taken by using random sampling technique. Control group consists of students who are taught without using TAI technique (Team Assisted Individualization). And experiment group consists of students who are taught by using TAI technique (Team Assisted Individualization).
The writer had given a try out test to know the validity and reliability of the instrument to other students having the same competence with the sample. The writer uses two kind of tests, they are pre-test and post-test. The writer uses multiple choice test containing 40 items as instrument.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test formula. Based on the result, t-ratio 3,384 while t-table 2,000 with level significant 5% and degree of freedom 60, it shows that t-ratio is bigger than t-table (3,384 > 2,000). It means that zero hypothesis (H0) is refused and hypothesis of the research (H1) is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is that the use of TAI technique (Team Assisted Individualization) gives a positive effect toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade students of MTs Bustanul Huda Dawuhan Talang Tegal Regency in academic year of 2012/2013.
