The Effect of Using Street Photography towards Students’ Writing Achievement (An Experimental Study to the Second Semester Students of English Department of Pancasakti University Tegal in the Academic Year of 2012/2013)

The objectives of this research are to find out whether the use of street photography gives positive effect to the students’ writing achievement and to find out whether there is significant difference writing achievement between the students who are taught by using street photography and those who are not taught by using street photography.
The population of this research is the whole of the second semester students of English Department of Pancasakti University Tegal in the academic year of 2012/2013. The total of the population is 135 students. By using cluster random sampling, the writer takes two classes to be samples of the research. Then, the writer uses random sampling to get 25 students each class. Those two classes are one class as experimental group and the other as the control group.
The writer uses experimental research as the method. The writer uses a writing test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test is an essay test. From an essay test, the students are asked to make a paragraph based on street photography.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 48 on the level significant of 5% and the t-table is 2,021, it shows that t - ratio is higher than t-table (5,572>2,021). It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the hypothesis of the research (H1) is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is street photography gives positive effect on the writing achievement of the second semester students of English Department of Pancasakti University Tegal in the academic year of 2012/2013.
