THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING ANSWER (ANALYZE, NOTICE, SET UP,WORK, ENGINEER, REVIEW) STRATEGY IN THE TEACHING OF READING FOR STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (An Experimental Research in the 8th Grade Students of SMP N 1 Dukuhturi in the Academic Year 2012/2013)

The purpose of this research is the gain information about the effectiveness of using the ANSWER (Analyze, Notice, Set up, Work, Engineer, Review) strategy in the teaching of reading for students of Junior Highschool (An Experimental research to 8th grade student of SMPN 1 Dukuhturi in The Academic Year 2012/2013).
The population of this research is the 8th grade students of SMP N 1 Dukuhturi. The number of population is 217 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling technique with two groups design to choose the sample of the research. They are devided into two groups. The first group is the experimental group that consists of 30 students who are thought by using ANSWER strategy and the second one is the control group who are not thought by using ANSWER strategy. Each group consists of 30 students.
The research starting from 29 May until 20 June in SMP N 1 Dukuhturi. The writer gave a Try out Test to findout Validity and Reability of Test Instrument that the writer made. From 40 items of Test Instrument, the writer get 31 question items that has Validity.
The data of this research was gained from the result of reading test that containing 30 multiple choice items as the instrument to be computed validity and reability. Data analysis of this research is using t-test with degree freedom (df) = (N1+N2) - 2 = 58 on the level significant of 5 % t-table is 2.00 and t-ratio is higher than t table (7.272 > 2.000).
Based on the result of data analysis, it is concluded that the using of ANSWER (Anlayze, Notice, Set up, Work, Engineer, Review) Strategy is effective in the Teaching Reading at 8th grade students of SMP N 1 Dukuhturi in Academic Year of 2012/2013. It means there is a significant effect of applying ANSWER strategy in the teaching reading for students’ Junior Highschool.
There are several suggestions in order to improve the students’ reading comprehension. First, teacher should find an interesting method or strategy to makes student easily in teaching-learning process. Second , ANSWER strategy can stimulate and give efficiency time to answer reading questions.
