“THE EFFECT OF USING VISUAL STORY TOWARDS THE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL” (An Experimental Study on Fifth Grade Students of MI Muhammadiyah Debong Wetan in the Academic Year of 2012 / 2013)

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of using Visual Story towards the students’ vocabulary mastery in elementary school (An Experimental Study on FifthGrade Students of MI Muhammadiyah Debong Wetan in the Academic Year of 2012/2013). The research is done by classifying sample into two groups they are the Experiment group and Control group. Each group consists of 20 students. The sample is taken by using cluster random sampling technique. They are divided into two groups, group one is experiment group consists of students who are taught by using visual story and group two is control group consists of students who are taught without using visual story.
The sample is given a test containing 30 Multiple Choice items. The writer uses multiple choice as the instrument to know the validity and reliability of the instrument. The writer gives a try out for students having the same competence with the sample.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using independent sample t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 38 on the level significant of 5% t-table is 2,0244, it shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (4,712>2,0244). It means that there is significant difference of the vocabulary mastery between the students who are taught by using Visual Story and the students who are taught without using Visual Story.
The conclusion of this research is Visual Story gives positive effect toward students’ vocabulary mastery FifthGrade Students of MI Muhammadiyah Debong Wetan in the Academic Year of 2012/2013.
