THE EFFECT OF COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH TOWARD STUDENTS’ GRAMMAR ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study to the Eleventh Grade Student of SMK Muhammadiyah Margasari of Tegal Regency in the Academic Year of 2012/2013)

The objective of the study is to know whether Communicative approach gives possitive effect and to know whether significance difference of using Communicative approach toward the Eleventh grade students’ grammar achievement at SMK Muhammadiyah Margasari Tegal Regency in the Academic year 2012/ 2013. The hypothesis of this study as follows: the use of communicative approach has possitive effect to the eleventh grade students’ grammar achievement at SMK Muhammadiyah Margasari of Tegal Regency in the academic year 2012/2013.
The population of the study is the Eleventh grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Margasari Tegal Regency in the second semester in Academic year 2012 / 2013. The total of population is 63. The writer used random sampling to choose sample in this study. The number of sample is 60. The sample was devided into two groups, called experimental and control group. The experimental group was the students taught or treated by using communicative approach, while the control group was the students who were not taught or treated by communicative approach.
The writer used test as the instrument of the study. The type of the test was grammar multiple choice-test which had been tested its validity and reliability. To get validity and reliability of the test, the writer had tried out the instrument. The data of the research were obtained from the result of grammar test. Data analysis is used t-test. Base on the result of data analysis t-ratio was 2,567. On the level significance 5% and the degree of freedom (df) 58, the t-table 2,00.
It showed that t-ratio is greater than t-table, it means the use of Communicative approach has possitive effect toward the students grammar achievement at SMK Muhammadiyah Tegal Regency in academic year 2012/2013.
