THE EFFECT OF USING SILENT ANIMATION MOVIES AS VISUAL LEARNING AND TEACHING MEDIA TOWARD STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT(An Experimental Research on the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 1 Moga in Academic Year 2012/2013)

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of silent animation movies has positive effect toward the students ability in writing narative (An Experimental Research at the Eleventh Grade Students’ of SMA N 1 Moga, Moga – Pemalang Regency in the academic year 2012/2013). The research is done by classifying sample into two groups, they are the Experiment Group and Control Group. Each group consists of 37 Students. The sample is taken by using random sampling technique. They are divided into two groups, group one is experiment group which consists of students who are taught by using silent animation movie media and group two is control group which consists of students who are taught without using silent animation movie media.
The writer uses writen test as the instrument of the research. The students are asked to write a narrative text based on the silent animation movie. The time for doing the test is 90 minutes.
Data analysis of the research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 72 on the level significant of 5% t-table is 1,671, it shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (1,739>1.671). It means that there is significant difference of the writing achievement between students who are taught by using silent animation movie media and the students who are taught without using silent animation movie media.
The conclusion of this research is by using silent animation movie as visual learning and teaching media gives positive effect toward students’ ability in writing narative text in the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Moga in academic year 2012/2013
