THE EFFECT OF USING TEAM PAIR SOLO STRATEGY TOWARD SECOND GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ GRAMMAR MASTERY ( An Experimental Study Of SMP Negeri 7 Pemalang In The Academic Year Of 2012/2013)

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of using Team Pair Solo Strategy toward second grade of junior high school students grammar mastery (An Experimental Study of SMP Negeri 7 Pemalang in the Academic Year of 2012/2013).
Based on the theoretical background, the hypothesis of this research is “Team Pair Solo Strategy gives positive effect toward second grade of junior high school students’ grammar mastery at SMP Negeri 7 Pemalang in the academic year of 2012/2013”.
The Population of this research is the second grade of junior high school students of SMP Negeri 7 Pemalang in the academic year of 2012/2013 which consists of seven classes numbered 210 students. The writer takes one class out of the sample to measure validity and reliability of instrument. The instrument is grammar test containing 40 Multiple Choice items as try out. The writer gives a try out for students having the same competence with the sample.
The writer is done by classifying sample into two groups, they are the Experimental group and Control group. Each group consists of 30 students. The sample is taken by using cluster random sampling technique. They are divided into two groups, group one is experiment group consists of 30 students who are taught by using Team Pair Solo Strategy and group two is control group consists of 30 students who are taught without using Team Pair Solo Strategy.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level significant 5% t-table is 2,0017, it shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (4,510 > 2,0017). It means that there is significant difference of the grammar mastery between students who are taught by using Team Pair Solo Strategy and the students who are taught without using Team Pair Solo Strategy.
The conclusion of this research is the using Team Pair Solo Strategy gives positive effect toward second grade of junior high students’ grammar mastry in SMP Negeri 7 Pemalang in the academic year of 2012/2013.
