THE EFFECT OF USING AURAL ORAL APPROACH ON THE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study to the Fifth Grade Students of SD Negeri 01 Kendaldoyong Pemalang Regency in Academic Year of 2012/2013)

The objective of the research is to find out whether or not the use Aural Oral Approach gives positive effect on students’ vocabulary achievement.
Based on the theoretical background and logical frame work, the hypothesis of this research is as follows: The use of Aural Oral Approach give positive effect toward student’s vocabulary achievement in SDN 01 Kendaldoyong, Pemalang Regency.
This research is an experimental study. It is conducted at SDN 01 Kendaldoyong, Pemalang Regency. The population of the research is the students of fifth grade of SDN 01 Kendaldoyong Pemalang Regency in academic year of 2012/2013. The writer takes 40 students as the samples, which are divided into two groups Experimental group and Control group. Every group contains 20 students. The experimental group is taught by implementing aural oral approach in teaching and learning process and control group is not taught without using aural oral approach in teaching and learning process.
The result of the data analysis implementing this research that t- test result is 6, 68, with degree of freedom (df) = 38 and level of significance 5 %, t-table is 2,021. It means that t- test is higher than t-table (6, 68 >2,021). Therefore, the conclusion is that zero hypothesis (Ho) is refused and hypothesis of the research (Hi) is accepted.
It can be concluded that the students who are taught by using aural oral approach get better vocabulary achievement than the students who are taught without using aural oral approach. So, the use Aural Oral Approach in the fifth grade students at Elementary School give positive effect on students’ vocabulary achievement in learning English vocabulary at SDN Kendaldoyong 01 – Pemalang Regency in the Academic Year 2012/2013.
