THE EFFECT OF DICTATION LEARNING TECHNIQUE FOR STUDENTS’ LISTENING ABILITY (An Experimental Study to The Fifth Grade Students of Debong Lor Elementary School in The Academic of 2012/2013 )

The objective of this research is to know whether using Dictation Learning Technique gives positive effect toward Students’ Listening Ability at Debong Lor Elementary School in The Academic of 2012/2013.
Based on the theoretical background and frame of thinking, the hypothesis is formulated as follows : learning and teaching Through Dictation Learning Techniques estimated will give positive effects for Students’ Listening Ability at Debong Lor Elementary School in The Academic of 2012/2013..
The population of the research of the research is the fifth grade students of Debong Lor Elementary School Tegal with the total number 80 students. To collect the data, the writer took 40 students from the population as the sample by using the random sampling technique. The writer used two group designs : one group was an experimental group whereas the other was control group. Each group consist of 20 students. The experiment group taught Listening by using Dictation Learning Technique, while the control group was taught Listening by using tape recorder Technique. Then both of them were given the same test.
The writer used test as the instrument of the research is multiple choices. The multiple choices test consist of 30 items which has four options. The students did the test in 90 minutes. To know the validity and reability of the instrument, the writer tried out the istrument by giving the test to 30 students who have the same competence with the sample of this research.
The data of this research is gained from the listening test that was given to the sample of this research. To analyze the data, the writer used t-test to know the differences between the two groups. Based on the result of the data analysis, t-ratio is 2,577 with the degree of freedom (df) 38 and and the level of significance (α) 5% and the t-table is 2.024. It means that t-ratio is higher than the t-table (2,577>2.024). It can be concluded that the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is using Dictation Learning Technique gives positive effect toward Students’ Listening Aability in Derbong Lor Elementary School.
