THE EFFECT OF USING THE SEMUT (SEARCHING, MEANING, USING, AND CONFIRMATION) LEARNING MODEL TOWARD THE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY (An Experimental Research at the Seventh Grade of SMP N 2 Bojong, Tegal Regency)

Key Word : SEMUT (Searching Meaning Using and Confirmation) Learning Model, students’ vocabulary mastery.
The aim in this research is to know the effect of using SEMUT learning model in English teaching vocabulary to the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Bojong, Tegal Regency.
The problem of the research is stated as follows “Does the use of the “SEMUT” learning model have positive effect on the students’ vocabulary mastery in the Seventh Grade at SMPN 2 Bojong, Tegal Regency? Hypothesis of the research is stated that “the use of the "SEMUT" learning model has positive influence toward the students’ English vocabulary achievment in the Seventh Grade at SMPN 2 Bojong, Tegal Regency”.
The technique used in this research was random sampling technique to take 60 samples and the samples are devided into two groups. Each group consists of 30 students. The first group is taught by using SEMUT learning model and the other group is taught without using SEMUT Learning Model. To collect data, the researcher use a test.
In analyzing the data, the researcher uses t test formula. From the count of mean of experiment and control group, the researcher has gotten 7,7 for experiment group and 7,0 for control group. From the data analysis with t-test, the researcher find that t count is higher than t table (2,211 > 2,042). It means that there is significant difference of the means of experimental and control group, so the hypothesis of research is accepted.
So, it could be concluded that the use of SEMUT learning model has given positive effect in teaching English Vocabulary to the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Bojong,
