THE USE OF REALIA AS LEARNING MEDIA TOWARD STUDENTS’ WRITING ACHIEVEMENT IN LEARNING PROCEDURE TEXT (An Experimental Research in the Seven Year Students at SMP Negeri 2 Moga in the Academic Year of 2011/2012)

The objective of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference of writing achievement between students who are taught by using realia and students who are taught without using realia on the seven year at SMP Negeri 2 Moga in the Academic Year of 2011/2012.
Population of this research is the the seven year at SMP Negeri 2 Moga in the Academic Year of 2011/2012 which is 180 students. Sample of this research consists of 60 students, which are randomly taken. Then, the sample is divided into two groups. The experiment group is taught by using realia and the control group that is taught without using realia. Each group contains 30 students. The writer used writing test as the instrument of the research. To know the validity and the reliability of the instrument, the writer had tried out by giving a test to 30 students having the same competence with the sample of the research.
Data analysis in this research is tested by using t-test to determine whether there is a significant difference in the result of the two groups. The research result shows that on degree of significance 5% there is a significant difference of students’ writing achievement between students who are taught by using realia and students who are taught without using realia. Based on the data analysis, it shows that t-test is 7,000 and t-table is 2,000 at the significant level 5 % and degree of freedom 58, t-data is is higher than t-table (7,000 > 2,000). It means that the research hypothesis is accepted.
The conclusion of the research is that there is a significant difference of students’ writing achievement between students who are taught by using realia and students who are taught without using realia on the seven year at SMP Negeri 2 Moga in the Academic Year of 2011/2012.
