“THE EFFECT OF CIRC TECHNIQUE ON READING ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL” (An Experimental Research in SMK N 2 Slawi in the Academic Year 2013/2014)

The aim of this research is to find out whether the use of CIRC technique has positive effect toward the tenth grade students’ reading achievement (An Experimental Research in SMK N 2 Slawi in the academic year 2013/2014).
Based on review of related literature and frame of thinking, the hypothesis of the research is proposed as follows: CIRC technique gives positive effect in teaching reading In other words, the students who use CIRC technique will get better achievement than the students who do not use circ technique.
The population of this research is the tenth grade students at SMK N 2 Slawi with the total number 259 students. To collect the data, the writer took 60 students, the sample are divided into two groups, each consists of 30 students. This research uses cluster random sampling technique. The writer uses multiple choice as the instrument of research. Type of test used is multiple choice with 4 options; a, b, c, and d.
The writer uses SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) to compute data analysis. Data analysis of the research is tested by using t-test, the result is 2,947 with the degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level significant of 5% t-table is 2,000, it shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (2,947>2,000). In other words, there is significant difference of the reading achievement between the students who are taught by using CIRC technique and the students who are taught without using CIRC technique. Thus the hypothesis of this research is accepted.
The conclusion of this research is circ technique gives positive effect toward the tenth grade students’ reading achievement of SMK N 2 Slawi in academic year 2013/2014.
