Pencitraan Perempuan di Majalah: Konstruksi Identitas Perempuan Kelas Menengah di Perkotaan
This article is about how the establishment of women’s imaging in women’s magazine (Femina and Kartini) which has consumers from middle class urban women. Imaging women in both magazine, intensionally formed through commercial advertising and cover story. The use of women’s models have been identified into five images; the image frame (citra pigura), the image of the pillar (citra pilar), the image of the contest (citra peraduan), the image of the plate (citra pinggan) and the image of association (citra pergaulan). This article is also seen that the formation of six imaging is also associated with a reduction of meaning of beauty who socialized through megazines to women and a patriarchal culture that is still strong inherent in the people of Indonesia. The urban middle class women who should play an important role on the agenda of gender equality.
