THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING CAROUSELBRAINSTORMINGSTRATEGYIN THE TEACHING OF WRITING FOR TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (An experimental study at State High School 1 Comal in the academic year of 2013/2014)

The objective of this research is to know whether carousel brainstorming strategy iseffective in the teaching of writingor not to the tenth grade of senior high school.The hypothesis of this research is “ using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy is effective inthe teaching of writing for tenth grade students at State senior High School 1 Comal in the academic year of 2013/2014”.
The approach in this research is quantitative research and the type of this research is experimental research. The research conducted at State Senior High school 1 Comal in the academic year of 2013/2014. The population of this research is the tenth grade students of State senior High School 1 Comal in the academic year of 2013/2014.
The research is done by classifying samples into two groups; They are the experimental group and control group. Each group consists of 40 students who are taught by using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy as the experimental group and group 2, as control group consists of students who are taught without using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 78 on the level significant of 5% t-table is 1,665, It shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (6,764>1,665). It means that there is significant difference of the writing ability between students who are taught by using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy and the students who are taught without using Carousel Brainstorming Strategy.
From the result above, It can be concluded that the Carousel Brainstorming Strategy is the effective way in the teaching of writing for students of senior high school at the tenth grade of state senior high school 1 comal in the academic year 2013/2014. Therefore, it is suggested for the teacher to apply this method in the teaching and learning process.
