THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SERIES PICTURE USING GROUP WORKING TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT ( An Experimental Study of the Tenth Grade Students at MAN Brebes 1 in Academic Year of 2013/2014 )

The objectives of the study are to describe the implementation of Series Picture Using Group Working Technique and to find out the effect of Series Picture Using Group Working Technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text to the tenth grade students of MAN 1 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014.
Based on theoretical background the hypothesis of this study is that there is positive effect series picture using group working technique in the teaching of writing narrative text for the tenth grade students of MAN 1 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014.
The population of the study is the tenth grade of MAN 1 Brebes in academic year 2013/2014 with total number of class X is 212 students consist of 9 Classes. The writer used two group design as research methodology and also the writer used cluster random sampling technique to choose the sample of the research. The sample consists of two groups, the first group was experimental group and the second group was control group The experimental group was taught by using series picture in group working technique and the control group was taught by using convensional strategy. Each group consists of 24 students. The form of the test is developing an outline, from the test the students must be able to develope the main sentences of narrative text as many as one hundred twenty five words.
Based on the data analysis, the t-test is 4,26 with the degree of freedom 48 on the significance level of 5% t-table is 1,67. The computation shows that t-test is higher than t-table ( 4,26 > 1,67 ). It means that the hypothesis of the research is accpeted.
The conclusion of the research is that there is a significant difference between the students who are taught by by using series picture in group working technique and the students who are taught by using convensional strategy. In addition, the teacher could use series picture in group working technique to improve students’ writing ability.
