THE EFFECT OF USING DIARY TOWARDS THE STUDENTS SKILL IN WRITING PERSONAL RECOUNT TEST (An Experimental Research of The Eight Year Students of State Islamic Junior High School Petarukan Pemalang in Academic Year 2013/2014)

The objective of this research is to find out the possitive effect of using diary on students skills in writing personal recount text for the eight year students of State Islamic Junior Highschool Petarukan Pemalang.
Based on the related theories and frame of thinking , the hypothesis of the research is proposed as follows : Using diary gives positive effect on students skills in writing personal recount text for the eight year students of State Islamic Junior Highschool Petarukan Pemalang.
Population of this research is the second grade students of State Islamic Junior High School Petarukan Pemalang, consisting of 248 students. The number of the samples is 60 students. The sample is devided into two group, each group consists of 30 students. The first group is students who are taught by using diary and the second group is students who are not taught by using diary.
The data of the research are gained from the result of writing test done by the samples of the research. The data analysis is tested using t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis t-test is 2,2044 on the level of significance 5% and the degree of freedom (df) is 1,645.
It shows that t-test is higher than 〖t-〗_table (2,2044 > 1,645). It can be concluded that diary gives positive effect on the students writing skill in writing personal recount text of the eight year students of State Islamic Junior Highschool Petarukan Pemalang in Academic Year 2013/2014.
Based on the result of the study , the writer proposes some suggestions. First,teacher should be creative and make an innovation in teaching writing because students often bored and worry to write Second, teacher should be give motivations to build the students confident in writing. Third, teacher should help the students when the students find difficulties in writing. Fourth, teacher should be permit the students to expand their idea in writing in diary to make them enjoy and fun in learning writing.
