THE EFFECT OF USING CUB SCOUTS GAME TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY ( An Experimental Study at The Eighth Grade Students of Junior High School of SMP Negeri 1 Tarub in the Academic Year of 2013/2014 )

This study is aimed to find out whether or not there is positive effect of using Cub Scouts Game towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade students of Junior High School of SMP N 1 Tarub in the academic year 2013/2014.
This research is an experimental research which uses two group design. Population of this research is all the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Tarub which is totally 210 students. The cluster random sampling technique is used to take the sample which consists of 60 students that devided into two groups; Group I as experimental group consists of 30 students which is given Cub Scouts Game and group II as control group also consists of 30 students which is not given Cub Scouts Game. In this research, the writer uses vocabulary test of multiple choices and completion as the instrument of the research which consist of 30 items. The writer uses pre-test and post-test (vocabulary test) to collect the data. The data is obtained through the result of the post test and pre-test as comparison. In collecting the primary data, the writer carried out treatment and post test both experimental and control group. Before giving the treatment, the writer gave a try out to test the validity and reliability of instrument.
Afterwards, the data is tested by t-test formula. Score of t table at 5 % level of significance and on the degree of is 1,645. While to is 8,002. Therefore, to is higher than t table ( 8,002 > 1,645 ). Therefore, hypothesis alternative is accepted. It means that there is a positive effect of using Cub Scouts Game towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tarub in the academic year 2013/2014. From this, the writer suggests that the teacher could do some improvements in her teaching to facilitate the students to improve their vocabulary mastery by using Cub Scouts Game, then in implementing this game the teacher should be creative, active, and keep in control when giving the game and for the students should always improve their vocabulary mastery to get better in English. Then when the teacher gave Cub Scouts Game in learning vocabulary, the students should be active in playing the game to help them improving their vocabulary.
