THE EFFECT OF USING GROUP RESUME ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING NEWS ITEM TEXT ( An Experimental Research on The Eleventh Grade Student at SMA NU 1 Suradadi – Tegal in The 2013/2014 of Academic Year )

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not Using Group Resume gives positive effect on Students’ Achievement in Writing News Item Text.
Based on review of related theories, frame of thinking the hypothesis of this research is purposed of follows: the use group resume will give positive effect towadrs students’ achievement in writing news item text of eleventh grade students of SMA NU 1 Suradadi - Tegal in the 2013/2014 of Academic Year.
The population of the study is the eleventh grade students of SMA NU 1 Suradadi – Tegal in academic year 2013/2014. The total number of students XI is 62 students. The writer used two group design as research method and also the writer used cluster random sampling technique to choose the sample of the research. The sample consists of two groups. Each group consists of 20 students. The form of the test is writing test.
Based on the data analysis, the t-test is 2,98 with the degree of freedom 38 on the significance level of 5% t-table is 1,68. The computation shows that t-test is higher than t-table ( 2,98 > 1,68 ). It means that the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
The conclusion of the research is that there is a significant difference between the students who are taught by using group resume method and the students who are taught by using convensional strategy. In addition, the teacher could use group resume method to improve students’ writing ability.
Base on the finding, the writer recommended using group resume can give is positive effect of using group resume on students’ achievement in writing news item text ( an experimental research at the eleventh grade students of SMA NU 1 Suradadi – Tegal in the 2013/2014 of academic year ).
The teacher should be able to control the class, because this strategy belongs to cooperative learning that the students work in group.
