THE EFFECT OF USING PINOY HENYO GAME TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY ( An Experimental Study at The Fifth Grade Students of SD Negeri Kalisoka 01 in the Academic Year of 2013/2014 )

The objectives of this research are to find out whether there is any significant difference in vocabulary mastery between students who are taught by using “Pinoy Henyo” game and those who are not, and to know whether or not the use of “Pinoy Henyo” game gives positive effect on students’ vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade Elementary School students in Dukuhwaru district in the academic year of 2013/2014.
This Research is a kind of experimental research of which the design is two-group design. The population of this research is 1623 students of the fifth grade of elementary students in the Dukuhwaru district. It is spread in 41 elementary schools. The sample is taken by two steps that firstly is using Cluster Random Sampling to determine the experimental and control group and secondly is using Random Sampling that is used to take 30 students from each group. Therefore, the sample is 60 students; 30 students of SDN Kalisoka 01 who were taught by using “Pinoy Henyo” Game (experimental group) and 30 students of SDN Pedagangan 01 who were not (control group).
In collecting the data, the instrument which is used is a test which is in multiple choice form of vocabulary test that consists of 25 questions. It should be done in 40 minutes. The validity and reliability of the instrument are tested by using statistical analysis of Correlation Product Moment.
The data of this research is tested by using t-test. It shows that t-ratio is 2,23 whereas t-table with degree of freedom (58) and on the level significance 5%, the value of t-table is 2,002 (2,23>2,002). It means that the objectives of the research are achieved. It could be concluded that the use of “Pinoy Henyo” game gives positive effect to the students’ vocabulary mastery.
