THE EFFECTIVENESS OF WHOLE BRAIN TEACHING METHOD TOWARDS STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY (An Experimental Research at the Second Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Ulujami in the Academic Year 2013/2014)

The objective of this research is to know if the implementation of Whole Brain Teaching Method has positive effect towards students’ achievement in writing (An Experimental Study on the second Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Ulujami in the Academic Year 2013/2014). The writer uses two group design (posttest only control design). The sample is taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The sample is divided into two groups; first group is experiment group which consists of students who are taught by using Whole Brain Teaching Method and second group is control group which consists of students who are not taught by Whole Brain Teaching Method. Each group consists of 30 students.
Data analysis of this research is gotten from the result of writing test which is given to the sample of the research. The data analysis from the result of the research is tested by using t-test, with t-test 3,166 where on the degree of freedom (df) 5% t-table is 1,645. t-table proves that t-test is higher that t-table (3,166>1,645). It means that the result of the test from experimental group is higher than the control group. Based on that result it can be stated that the hypotesis is accepted
Thus, it proves that Whole Brain Teaching Method gives positive effect towards the students’ achievement in writing, especially for those who are on the second grade of SMP Negeri 1 Ulujami in the academic year 2013/2014. Based on the conclusion, it can be stated that Whole Brain Teaching Method can be a recommended method that can be used by the English Teachers.
