THE EFFECT OF USING GROUP DYNAMICS TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN READING SPOOF TEXT (An Experimental Study at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014)
Key Words: Group Dynamics Technique, Students’ Achievement in Reading Spoof Text
The objective of this research is to find out whether there is any positive effect of using Group Dynamics Technique on students’ achievement in reading spoof text of the eleventh grade students ofSMA Negeri 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014.
The population of this research is the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014. The eleventhgrade students of SMA Negeri 3 Brebes who have been studying there in the Academic Year 2013/2014 consist of eight classes, including Science class and Social Study class. Moreover, there are 295 students. The writer uses the probability sampling which is cluster random sampling. The writer takes sixty students for the samples of the research of group at random who consist of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014. Therefore, the writer takes two groups as experiment group and control group, and takes thirty students for each group. Furthermore, the writer uses a test as the research instrument to collect the data. The data of this research is collected from the pretest and the posttest for the experiment group and the control group. On the other hand, the result of posttest is counted for the research findings. The number of the test is fifty numbers for each group. They are multiple-choice items.
The result of t computation (t_0) which is counted from t-test is 6,111. On the other hand, from the significant level (α) at 5% of t distribution table, t table (t_1) is 2,002. Furthermore, t computation (t_0) is higher than t table (t_1) which is 6,111 > 2,002. Therefore, it is concluded that Null Hypothesis (H_0) is refused. It means that Research Hypothesis (H_1) is accepted.
As a result, because Research Hypothesis (H_1) is accepted, it is concluded that there is positive effect of using Group Dynamics Technique on students’ achievement in reading spoof text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014.
