THE COMPARATIVE EFFECTS OF SIMULATION GAMES AND BRAINSTORMING INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study to the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung -Brebes in the Academic Year 2013/2014)
The objectives of this research are: 1) to find out the students’ speaking achievement of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung who are taught using simulation games technique, 2) to find out the students’ speaking achievement of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung who are taught using brainstorming technique, 3) to find out whether or not there is significant difference effects on students’ speaking achievement between students who are taught using simulation games and those who are taught using brainstorming techniques. The population of this research is the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung in the Academic Year of 2013/2014. The research is done by classifying sample into two groups, they are experimental groups. Each group consists of 30 students. The sample is taken by using cluster random sampling technique. Group one is experimental group that consists of students who are taught by using simulation games technique and group two is experimental group that consists of students who are taught using brainstorming technique. The instrument of this research is spoken test.
Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level of significance 5% with 2-tailed test (sig = 0,025) t-table is 2,002, it shows that t-count is higher than t-table (6,219 > 2,002). It means that there is significant difference effect on students’ speaking achievement between students who are taught using simulation games and those who are taught using brainstorming techniques.
The conclusion of this research is that there is significant difference effect on students’ speaking achievement between students who are taught using simulation games and those who are taught using brainstorming techniques at the seventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung - Brebes in the Academic Year of 2013/2014.
