THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE APPROACH TOWARDS THE STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT (An Experimental Research in Tenth Grade of SMA 1 Sragi in Academic Year 2013/2014)

The objective of this research is to find out the positive effect of using language experience approach on student ability in writing narrative text for the tenth grade students of SMA 1 Sragi. Then, the hypothesis of the research is proposed as follows: using language experience approach gives positive effect on student ability in writing narrative text for the tenth grade students of SMA 1 Sragi.
Population of this research is the tenth grade students of SMA 1 Sragi, consisting of 264 students. The number of the samples is 60 students. The sample is divided into two groups; each group consists of 30 students. The first group is experimental group who are taught by using language experience approach and the second group is control group who taught without using language experience approach.
The data of the research are gained from the result of writing test done by the samples of the research. The writing test used to evaluate the student’s achievement. The research used the scoring rubric evaluation such as steps of rethoric, grammar and vocabulary, clarity of the meaning, and coherence.
The data analysis is tested using t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis t-test is 2,9249 on the level of significance 5% and the degree of freedom (df) is 1,645. It shows that t-test is higher than 〖t-〗_table (2,9249> 1,645). It can be concluded that language experience approach gives positive effect on the student’s ability in writing narrative text of the tenth grade students of SMA 1 Sragi in Academic Year 2013/2014.
According of the result of the study, the writer suggests that language experience approach are absolutely good for teaching process. Those language experience approach will help students in learning process, expecially in writing ability. The writer hopes that this research could help other researcher in the future, and this research is hoped to contribute educational development.
