THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COOPERATIVE LEARNING TECHNIQUEOF TGT (TEAMS-GAMES-TOURNAMENTS) ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT (An Experimental Research to the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Kramat Tegal in the Academic Year 2014/ 2015)
Key Word: The Implementation of TGT Technique, Student’s Writing Descriptive Text Achivement.
The objective of this research is to know whether there is a positive effect of using TGT Technique on student’s Writing Descriptive Text achivement to the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Krmat Tegal in the academic year of 2014/ 2015.
Based on the theoretical review and frame of thinking, the hypothesis of this research is proposed as follows: “Cooperative Learning Strategy of TGT Technique can give positive effect to students’ achievement in writing descriptive text of the eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Kramat Tegal”.
The population is the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kramat Tegal in the academic year of 2014/ 2015. The number of the population is 315 students. The samples of this research are 60 students. The samples are divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. Each group consists of 30 students. The samples are taken by using random sampling technique. The writer uses test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test is writing test.
The data of this research is gained from the result of writing descriptive text test done by sample of the research. Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis t-ratio is 2,966 whereas t-table with the degree of freedom is 58 on the level significance of 5%, t-table is 2,042. It shows that t-ratio is bigger than t-table (2,966 >2,042). Thus, the conclusion of the research is the use of TGT technique gives possitive effective to the students’ descriptive writing skill at the eighth grade of SMP N 2 Kramat Tegal in the academic year of 2014/ 2015.
Thus, it can be concluded that students who are taught by using TGT technique on Studend’s writing descriptive text Achivement get better result than students who are not taught by using TGT technique. The writter used TGT technique in teaching writing descriptive text to get Student’s writing descriptive text achivement, therefore in learning process, English teachers should be able to select appropiate technique to gain their goal.
