ANALISA PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN FRAKSI BERAT SERAT DAUNSANSEVIERIA TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK KOMPOSIT MATRIKS EPOXY
Composite materials have advantages compared with other techniques such as low density, rust resistant, strong, sturdy and tough. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of epoxy matrix composites with the addition of fiber weight fraction of Sansevieria leaves.
Composite manufacture is done by hand lay-up, which leaves Sansevieria fiber length is 10 cm, with parallel grain direction. Testing is performed tensile test, impact test and bending test performed with three repetitions per specimen variation. This study uses the Sansevieria leaf fiber with weight fraction variation are 0%, 5%, 15% and 25%. Standard tensile test specimens according to ASTM D 638 Type III, bending test specimens according to ASTM D 790 standards and impact test specimens in accordance with ISO 179.
The results showed that the highest tensile strength test of Epoxy matrix composites with the addition of fiber weight fraction of Sansevieria leaves owned by the addition of fiber composites with variation of 25% ie 416.742 kgf / cm2for the value of tensile strenght while for the value of the lowest tensile strength possessed by composite without fiber is 250.35 kgf / cm2for the value of tensile strength. In addition of fiber Sansevieria leaves has no significant influence to the value of bending test, because the result below the value of the raw material in a sequence of 5%, 15% and 25%, ie 43.21 MPa, 39.67 MPa and 35.5 Mpa.The highest impact strength possessed by fiber composites with variation of 25% ie 4.31 J fo value of impact strength, while the lowest impact value owned by the composite with variation of 15% ie 2.62 J for the value of impact strength.
