THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING MESSAGE THROUGH A SEQUENCE GAME TOWARD STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study to the Third Grade Students of SD Muhammadiyah Slawi in the Academic Year of 2014/2015)

The aim of the research is to find out whether or not the Message Through a Sequence Game gives positive effect in teaching vocabulary for the third grade Students of SD Muhammadiyah Slawi in the Academic Year of 2014/2015.
This research is experimental study. The population of the study is the fourth grade students of Muhammadiyah Elementary school in Slawi, Tegal in the academic year 2014/2015 which consists of 219 students and each class has two classes for third grade. In this research the writer uses 1 school which consists of 60 students for the sample who are selected by using cluster random sampling technique. In designing study, the writer used Two-Group Design which consists of two classes that have same level; those are experimental and control group. In each group consists of 30 students. The writer used test as the type of instrument of the research by using multiple choice designs with four options A, B, C and D.
Data analysis of the research is tested by using t-test, to test the difference of means of the experimental group and control group. After having consulted to the significant level of 5% t-table 1,645, so that the result of calculation analysis show t-ratio is 4,152. It means the result of t-test is higher than t-table. Thus the hypothesis of this research is accepted. The conclusion shows that using Message Through a Sequence Game gives positive effect in teaching vocabulary for the third grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Slawi in the academic year 2014/2015. As suggestion, the teacher should be able to use appropriate game in the teaching English.
Teaching English by using Message Through a Sequence Game gives positive effect in the teaching vocabulary. It progresses informally, without causing stress and bored. The writer suggests to use this technique in the teaching vocabulary especially in elementary school.
