THE EFFECT OF USING CHAIN WRITING STRATEGY IN GROUP TOWARD STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT (An Experimental Research at the 2nd Grade Students of MAN Pemalang in Academic Year 2013/2014)

The purpose of this research is to find out the positive effect of using Chain Writing on students’ ability in writing narrative text For the second grade students of MAN Pemalang. Based on the related theories and frame of thinking, the hypothesis of the research is proposed as follows : Using Chain Writing gives positive effect on students’ Ability in writing Narrative Text for the second grade Students of MAN Pemalang.
The population of this research is the second grade students at MAN Pemalang in the academic year of 2013/2014. The writer uses cluster random sampling to take 60 students as the sample. They are 30 Students in the experimental group and the 30 students in control group.
The writer uses a writing test as an instrument of the research. The form of the test is essay in rubric of evaluation, aspect are steps of rethoric Grammar and vocabulary, clarity of the meaning, coherence.
The data analysis is tested using t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis t-test is 2,2044 on the level of significances 5% and the degree of freedom (df) is 1,645.It shows that the t-test is higher that t-table (2,2044>1,645). It can be concluded that chain writing gives a positive effect on students Ability in writing Narrative text of second grade Students of MAN Pemalang in Academic year 2013/2014. It means that hypothesis of the research is accepted.
Based on the result of the study, the writer proposed some suggestions. First, teacher should be creative and make an innovation in teaching writing because students often get bored to write. Second, students give motivations to built the students confident to writing. Third, teacher should help the student when the students find difficulties in writing and make them enjoy full, fun, and easy to learn some new words or sentence. To the Teacher to apply this technique in teaching and vocabulary.
