THE EFFECT OF USING MUSICAL CHAIRS GAME AS A LEARNING TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Research at the Eight Grade of MTs Ma’arif NU 07 Sawojajar in the Academic Year of 2013/2014)

The study is about musical chairs game as a learning technique on students’ vocabulary achievement. The objective of this thesis is to find out the significant effect between the students who are taught by musical chairs game technique and taught without using musical chairs game technique.
Based on the theory, the research hypothesis is drawn as follows: there is a significant effect of the musical chairs game technique on vocabulary achievement of the eight grade students of MTs Ma’arif NU 07 Sawojajar in the academic year of 2013/2014.
The population of this research is the eight grade students at MTs Ma’arif NU 07 Sawojajar in the second semester of the academic year of 2013/2014. The samples of the research are 60 students who are divided into two groups. The first group is experimental group which consist of 30 students and the second group is the control group which also consist of 30 students. Then, which consist of 30 students as a try out group. The two groups are taught by using the same material but different technique of teaching. The experimental group is the students who are taught by using musical chairs game and the control group is the students who are taught without using musical chairs game. Then both of them were given the same test.
The writer used a test as the instrument of the research. The data of the research is obtained from a vocabulary test consist of 25 items. The test takes 60 minutes to do. The type of test is multiple choice tests with four options A, B, C, and D.To find out the result of validity and reliability from a instrument.
Afterwards, the data is tested by t-test formula. The t-table score at 5% level in significance and on the degree of 58 is 1, 645. The t-test is higher than t-table (4, 591 > 1, 645). According to this calculation, hypothesis is accepted. It could be concluded that the application of musical chairs game gives positive influence on students’ vocabulary achievement. As suggestion, the teacher should motivate the students in learning English to improve their competence in English.
