Key word: Vocabulary, E-Learning, CALL
The objectives of this research are to find out whether or not CALL effective in teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade students and to find out whether any significant difference between students who are taught by using CALL and those are not taught by using CALL.
This Research is a kind of experimental research of which the design is two-group design. The population of this research is 85 students of the sixth grade students of SD Negeri Gumayun 01 and SD Negeri Pedagangan 01. The sample is taken by Random Sampling that is used to take 30 students from each group. Therefore, the sample is 60 students; 30 students of SD Negeri Gumayun 01 who were taught by using CALL (experimental group) and 30 students of SDN Pedagangan 01 who were not (control group).
In collecting the data, the instrument which is used is a test which is in multiple choice form of vocabulary test that consists of 30 questions. It should be done in 60 minutes. The data of experimental and control group is analyzed by SPSS 21.0. Based on Levene’s test, the result of computation of independent t-test shows that t-test is 4.794 with degree of freedom (df) is 58, the level significance (α) is 5% and the t-table is 2.002. It means that t-test is higher than t-table (4.794>2.002). It can be concluded that hypothesis of this research is accepted. Thus, the use of CALL is effective for teaching vocabulary and gives the positive effect on the students’ vocabulary achievement, because there is significant difference between experimental and control group. Therefore, the writer advises to the teachers to use demonstration method in English teaching especially in teaching vocabulary because by using CALL, it makes the students feel enjoy, interesting and fun. It can also make students motivated in learning vocabulary.
