THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING TEAM WORD-WEBBING IN THE TEACHING OF READING COMPREHENSION FOR THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (An Experimental Research in SMA Al-Irsyad Tegal in the Academic Year of 2014/2015)

This research has purpose to find out whether Team Word-Webbing technique gives a possitive effect on students’ reading comprehension of the eleventh grade student of Senior High School (An Experimental Research in SMA Al-Irsyad in the Academic Year of 2014/2015).
Based on the review of related literature and logical framework, the hypothesis in this research can be formulated is as follow: Team Word-Webbing is more effective than the conventional technique in teaching of reading at eleventh grade students SMA Al-Irsyad Tegal.
Population in this research are all students at XI grade SMA Al-Irsyad Tegal in the academic year of 2014/2015. The population in this study consists of 5 classes. From 5 classes are taken 2 classes as sample and each class consists of 30 students. In sampling, the writer uses random sampling technique. One class is as the experimental class and one class again is as the control class. Grade students are selected as the experimental class XI IA 1 treated in Team Word-Webbing technique while students in grade XI IA 2 as the control class that are taught in conventional technique. The collecting of data in this research uses test method that is held after the teaching of reading has been finished. Before the test that is held, the test is tried out on one class which is XI IS 1.
The testing of hypothesis uses t-test based on the computation is got t-counted is 2,564 with the level of significant is 5% and degree of freedom (df) is 58, we found that t-table is 2,000. So, it can be known that t counted is bigger than t-table, which is 2,564>2,000, because t-counted is bigger than t-table the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected meanwhile the research Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means there is a possitive effect of using Team Word-Webbing technique on students’ reading comprehension for eleventh grade students in the second semester of SMA Al-Irsyad Tegal in the Academic Year of 2014/2015.
Based on the research result, it can be drawn conclusion that the students’ reading comprehension of the text can be improved through reading method that is Team Word-Webbing technique. The teachers are suggested in teaching reading they can apply Team Word-Webbing technique especially in comprehension of the text; in order the students can comprehend the text in reading activities perfectly.
